Kermit the Frog may once have sung that it’s not easy being green – but, actually, that concept might not apply to your kitchen! Indeed, this shade could be a highly effective choice for your marble worktops; even if it’s not one you’d considered previously.
And that’s especially the case if you also have the added benefit of already enjoying excellent natural lighting in your kitchen. What’s more, green is a popular colour with interior designers, since it links the inside of a property with the garden.
Colour co-ordination
Blend your viridescent marble countertops with the rest of your kitchen. You could also add accents in a striking contrasting hue. For example, gold handles or other accessories often work really well. Choose something that complements the floor and walls in addition to your worktops.
Your kitchen is clearly the heart of your home. And so it’s important that you create a positive, vibrant atmosphere – which green can definitely do. Equally, kitchens are increasingly not just functional spaces where we prepare or consume food. They are also the areas where we socialise with friends and family. So it’s vital than ever that this room engenders a positive, uplifting atmosphere. Once again, shades of green, whether you for pea, sea, lime or emerald, can do exactly that.
And it’s not surprising that this shade is a growing trend. Film star Dakota Johnson, for example, showed off her mid-green kitchen, in a shade called alligator, in Architectural Digest magazine.
Green marble
One variety of green marble is Irish and quite rare; it’s found in Connemara. But this stone is also found in quarries in Sweden, for example, as well as India, Guatemala and Italy. It’s a versatile material that’s durable and easy to clean and maintain. And it draws the gaze to it. With some kinds, veining, for instance in white or black, will break up the main colour.
